ONGETTA is aware of its own position in the market and the sector where the company operates brings a big responsability and a challenging opportunity: to demonstrate how a company can be successfull without omitting to the respect and the correct awareness of the environment where it operates. Is not easy to balance the economic and market growth with a reduced enviromental impact but we know that we have the responsability to make the right moves in order to always improve this aspect and to convince the other players in the market to follow our example.

The always more strict rules, risks and costs connected to climatic changes on one hand and the development of new sustainable technologies and of ecologic opportunities on the other hand confirm that the balance between them is extremely important not only only to garantee a high life quality standard to the future generations but also to mantain a high level of competitiveness of the company in the long term

ONGETTA is constantly engaged on the R&D (research and developement) of a monitored and sustainable production chain with the target of improving its manufacturing process considering every days all these aspects

ONGETTA’s environmental policy is available by email at the following address: (

Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS): the world’s leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain. Environmental criteria include, for example, the evaluation of all chemical inputs (e.g. dyes, auxiliaries and process chemicals) that must meet basic requirements on toxicity and biodegradability/eliminability. But GOTS certificate considers also social criteria: all processors and manufacturers must meet minimum social criteria based on the key norms of the International Labour Organisation (ILO).

GOTS certification is issued by ICEA ( Italian Environmental and Ethical Certification Institute ) that is one of the most important certification body in Europe. ICEA operates to favour a fair and socially sustainable development from organic farming to other bio related sectors. Therefore ICEA controls all the production process of the firm and protects the dignity of workers and the rights of consumers.

Ongetta company was the first yarn twister certificated by GOTS for the production of biological yarns.
The company has the capacity to twist and deliver considerable quantities of organic silk yarn every month.
Traceability of the goods, from the silk worm eggs to the final yarn, is completely guaranteed. Through the help of the Chinese suppliers and of Ongetta’s quality laboratory, the quality of
organic silk reached the same optimum level as the traditional silk at a reasonable price.

The STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certification is the worldwide best known voluntary “ecological-label” for textile products and accessories. The STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® label guarantees that textile products and their accessories do not release harmful substances to human health and are therefore safe products from the human-ecological point of view.

The STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® label guarantees that textile products and their accessories do not release harmful substances to human health and are therefore safe products from the human-ecological point of view.

It includes substances prohibited or regulated by law, chemicals known to be harmful to health but without explicit legal regulations yet as well as further parameters for safeguarding health (e.g. a skin-friendly pH value and good colour fastness have to be demonstrated).

The certified articles comply with the requirements of Appendix XVII of the REACh legislation (including the use of azo dyestuffs, nickel, etc.) and with American regulations relating to the total lead content in products for children (CPSIA, does not apply to materials made of glass).

The criteria therefore go beyond the requirements of legislation in favour of more safety. They are science based, globally standardised and always up to date. They are re-evaluated annually and adapted when necessary.

STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® offers effective protection against possible harmful substances – and that for the entire range of textile products available on the market today.

“Global Recycle Standard” (GRS) is intended to provide an Environmental Product Declaration that ensure:

a) the recycled content of products (both finished and intermediate products)

b)the full respect of social and environmental requirements and the use of less dangerous chemical in the production processes

“GRS has been adopted at international level by Textile Exchange, a global non-profit organization committed to accelerating sustainable practices in the textile value chain in order to create material change, restore the environment, and enhance lives around the world.

Textile Exchange is headquartered in the USA and associates nearly 300 members including leading brands, retailers and NGOs committed to implement socially and environmentally sound policies and practises
